Cathy carries on the legacy of Oak Hill Cherokee Weavers as the 3rd generation creating handwoven textiles on her grandmother’s looms. These large oak and iron looms were handmade in the late 1930’s by the students of the Sequoyah Orphans Training School. Her sons and grandchildren are the 4th & 5th generation weaving on the Cherokee Nation Reservation.

In 2021 she was awarded Cherokee National Treasure for her work to preserve the art of Cherokee loom weaving.
